I had a beautiful win today against a tight player who tried to push me out. It was at a $0.20 table so the almost $20 in the pot felt good.

I held and was in the small blind. Tighty raised to $0.80 and I decided to call. Not a great hand, but lately a pair of kings was good enough on the flop to push people around at the table.

So the flop comes:

Beautiful. An easy king-high flush. At the table was Tighty and Marty, who is a rather aggressive and loose player. Since even a 4xBB call doesn't mean much from Marty I knew I had to push him here, same with Tighty. The chance of two clubs was statistically low, but the chance for a single was within reason. I couldn't allow a lucky club draw for a player with that.

So I bet pot at $2.40. Marty folds and Tighty surprises me with a sudden all-in. A call would cost me about $6 to get the $20 pot. I thought for a second and realized that Tighty would not likely play and from pure odds I couldn't place him on . So I called. His cards showed:

And I was relieved. Barring some horrific miracle the pot was mine.

In review I think I did the right thing. It didn't feel like a lucky or dangerous move. There was only one hand he would raise on preflop that would have beat me, and that is the . Possibly the pair of aces with a club for a flush draw as well. But his excessive bet gave me the final clue that he wanted me out, he didn't want a call -- most of his games are played reasonably with half pot or less value bets.
