Be leary the oversize pot

I made a terrible mistake relating to pot odds and what the pot was showing on Poker Stars. Cost me 25xBB, the rest of my stack.

What happened

I was holding two diamonds with ace high. The flop was showing another two diamonds and nothing but low cards -- though a straight would be possible.

As I'm playing multiple tables now I don't always think so clearly on individual tables. I come back to this table and see that somebody is all-in and the pot is just over $2.

My odds for a flush at this point are about 33%. It'll cost me 50 cents to call. That seems good to me, 4:1 pot odds versus 3:1 drawing odds. So I call.

I didn't hit my flush, but usually that doesn't bother me. I think I made the right decision. But no!

Thinking quickly, how was the pot $2. One guy went all-in, and I hadn't bet so much yet, so how would I only need to put 50 cents in. Because it is all I have. But that means the pot is really only about 80cents -- since the guys overage hasn't yet been taken out.

Those aren't worthwhile odds. Therefore I made a bad mistake.
