Following the advice given in numerous poker books, when I fold my hand I watch the table to see what the others do. Sometimes strange things happen, and this time I'm not sure what happened: a shitty pocket ultimately costing the player 30xBB!
Rundown
A 9-player $0.05/0.10 ring game.
In mid-position Fear leads in with $0.35. His only taker is Pog who raises to $0.60. Now, make note of that move. Fear, obviously having a premium hand reraises to $1.20 and is called.
The flop comes:
A rather dangerous hand, we've got some good straight and flush draws going. Pog obviously thinks he'll hit one of them so goes all-in with $2.30. He gets a call and the pot is $6.75.
With the turn and river the board shows:
Pog shows and Fear mucks.
Look back, WTF?
Pog shows . He raised preflop! Perhaps a clever steal attempt, but then he called the reraise. In a 9-player game he has only a 10% chance to win, and in a 2-player game only 43%.
I assume Fear had one of the top 10% of hands (based on the reraise). That means Pog's odds of winning, using a tool BigTPoker.com gave me↗, work out to about 31%.
So the question stands, "who the hell calls 6xBB on preflop with such a hand?"
