Sometimes it can be good to not make your hand. In this case I was absolutely grateful I didn't.

Rundown

I've got and the board is showing . I had bet 2xBB on the flop and got two calls. I wasn't sure about the other players, but I though that nobody had anything.

On the flop I played it easy and checked to a checker. This was followed by another check. Obviously I wasn't thinking my pair of twos was going to win and I wanted to see if I could get a cheap club on the river.

When the river was show I knew I had lost. At first I was upset that no club came up, but then as another player showed I was actually quite happy the club never came up.

Given how the player before me played I suspect he would have made only a small bet if he had the flush, thus I would likely have called and just tossed my money away.

In any case a pair of aces won.
